Weather and Climate
Edmonton enjoys a sunny climate. With about 2,300 hours of bright sunshine per year, Edmonton is one of Canada’s sunniest cities. Statistically, Edmonton weather is more temperate than other prairie cities like Regina or Winnipeg, and it’s less humid than Vancouver or Toronto. Summers are warm, with sunshine lasting as long as 17 hours per day. Winter days are often sunny, too.
Winter, with snow, generally lasts from November through mid-March. Statistics prove that, aside from relatively brief “cold snaps,” the winters are tolerable. A warm parka and winter footwear make the cold weather reasonably comfortable. Edmontonians enjoy a good number of outdoor activities year round.
