Human Rights and Multiculturalism
Canada is a multicultural society, and people of all races and religions are welcome here. We value the many different traditions and cultures of our citizens and newcomers. The Human Rights of everyone are protected.
The law protects the rights of Canadian citizens and immigrants to live free of discrimination based on:
- Race
- Sex
- Age
- National origin or ethnicity
- Physical or mental disability
- Marital or family status
- Religion
- Sexual orientation
It is illegal in Canada to refuse employment or housing to anyone, or to incite hatred against people, for any of these reasons.
