In the Downtown Arts District, you can take in a great play at the regal Citadel Theatre. Its five theatrical spaces present classics and family-oriented plays. Other local theatres showcase wider choices, like edgy new dramas and improvised soap opera.

Its Davis Concert Organ, with 6,551 pipes, is visually spectacular as well as an aural delight. If you enjoy high culture, you must see Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and Edmonton Opera perform. Another fine choice is Alberta Ballet.

"I've been driving all day and feel tired, but hanging out in the atrium-like lobby of the Citadel -- which features a wall of water, lots of skylights opening the hall out into the dusky summer night, and even more trees -- washes away those Highway 2 Blues." A Tale of Two Cities – Stephen Hunt, Calgary Herald 07/10/2007
