MADE in Edmonton: Media Art & Design Exposed (MADE) in Edmonton is a young, volunteer driven, not-for-profit organization that is actively working to bring out the best in Edmonton’s design community. Members come from the fields of architecture, graphic design, industrial design, landscape architecture, interior design, art, film and anyone interested in becoming more involved in the design environment. MADE in Edmonton’s mission is to heighten the public’s awareness and ability to appreciate design, art and architecture, and in turn increase their capacity to demand good art and design in their communities.

GOING GREEN
The Eco-Solar Home Tour: The Eco-Solar Home Tour, organized by volunteers, is a free open house tour that showcases practical examples of sustainability including renewable energy, energy security, energy efficiency, water efficiency, low emission technologies and natural landscaping. The Edmonton Home + Garden Show: Edmonton Home + Garden Show is pleased to announce its official showcase of green products and services. In acknowledging that greening is a process, organizers are proud to have taken the first steps by adding this fantastic feature that is sure to please. The Edmonton Home & Interior Design Show: The Edmonton Home & Interior Design Show continues as the largest building, renovation and decor show in Alberta's fall season, and is once again the only fall show of its kind in the thriving northern Alberta marketplace. The show will continue to provide an exciting opportunity for companies representing furnishings, design and decor products and services and accessories. The show attracts over 275 exhibitors and 18,000 visitors each fall.

The Edmonton Log & Cottage Show: The 2007 Log and Cottage Show in Edmonton confirmed that the “timber-frame culture” is alive and well in western Canada – and thriving. With increased demand for improved space, the show has moved to the 50,000 square foot Hall A of Northlands Agricom, boasting 30’ceilings, improved access and better lighting. This show takes place in spring.

The Renovation Show: Energy Matters continue to dominate homeowner agendas as gas and heating bills continued to climb over the winter months. With Federal and Provincial government assistance programs starting to trigger more efficient use of energy, the Renovation Show provides manufacturers with a perfect public platform to launch new energy saving products and ideas. The Renovation Show takes place at the beginning of the year.

The Woodworking Show: Edmonton’s 2009 Annual Woodworking Show will feature over 40,000 sq ft and 150 exhibitors selling every kind of tool and equipment available. Visitors are sure to find some great deals as well as a wealth of valuable information and advice. There will be continuous lectures and workshops, and dozens of demonstrations. The show takes place in the fall.

Muttart Conservatory: Set in Edmonton's scenic North Saskatchewan River valley, the four glass pyramids are filled with more than 700 species of plants from arid, temperate and tropical climates. St. Albert Botanic Park: Entirely designed, planted and maintained by residents in the community, St. Albert Botanic Park is an example of the power and determination of volunteers. The 18-acre garden grew from an idea conceived in 1990 by two St. Albert citizens whose vision was to create a trial garden where trees, shrubs, and perennial flowers could be publicly tested and demonstrated. Many come to see the Rose Garden, which is considered by many to be the best in the Edmonton area; others bought approximately 900 roses and 400 perennials from the varieties raised on-site.
